With a long list of patent pending applications and know-how accumulated in the solar industry, SolarWindow Technologies seems to have seduced the market very recently. The shares increased from $2 to more than $3 in March 2018. There was not any press release or new information to justify the recent increase in the share price. Let’s try to understand what’s going on.
Incorporated in Nevada, SolarWindow Technologies, Inc. (WNDW) is focused on the research and product development of company’s transparent electricity-generating SolarWindow coatings and technology, which can be applied to glass, flexible glass, and plastic surfaces.
Without any revenues in the past, more than $1.9 million invested in research and development in 2018 and $19 million in cash, the company makes a market capitalization of more than $150 million. It means that the market seems to give a lot of value to the company’s technology and R&D activities. Having said this, the last financial statements were reported in November 2018. They should not have created the most recent increase in the share price.
The most recent press release about the appointment of new director Bob Levine was also reported on December 18, 2018. This appointment should have been appreciated by the market, but it was reported long time ago. It should not be creating a market reaction right now. As shown in the lines below, the new director brings outstanding expertise to the company.
“Mr. Bob Levine has been with Avison Young since 1994 and is one of the founding partners of the company which, with the purchase of GVA in the U.K. early in the New Year, will have 120 offices in 25 countries and 5,000 real estate professionals. Since 2008, Avison Young has been one of the fastest growing commercial real estate companies in the world. Having recently retired from the Board of Directors of Avison Young after 10 years’ service, Mr. Levine remains on Avison Young’s Executive Committee.” Source: OTC Markets
With all this information in mind, perhaps certain market participants are expecting the new quarterly report and some are taking positions, which may be moving the share price up. It may also explain the recent price volatility. Like other low float runners, SolarWindow tends to exhibit share price spikes. While some market participants are experts in very volatile names, it is a risk for those who are not. Let’s see what happens next.
