Schleswig-Holstein police have identified a man who was dragged and killed by a truck during an alleged diesel theft. He is a 31-year-old man from Kaltenkirchen, officials announced Friday in Bad Segeberg. The suspicion of fuel theft, which appeared after Thursday’s accident, was also confirmed. A hole was discovered in the tank of the van, drilling tools and cans were found in a suitcase of the person killed.
The driver of the van was sleeping in his vehicle in the parking lot of a DIY store when he said he heard noises in the night from Wednesday to Thursday and looked without finding a cause.
Shortly after, he would have left and, having perceived noises of friction, would have stopped at a service station a few hundred meters further. It was there that he discovered the wheeled suitcase of the fuel thief who, after traveling a few meters, came to rest on the road with very serious injuries and died there.
